The Bukido Kai Grading System* Adult Grading
System. BUKIDO KAI ADULTS.Normal Kyu (coloured belt) gradings are held on a Sunday, approximately every three months. The grading lasts half a day and consists of examination in the areas of self defence, technique, sparring, drills, fitness, endurance and mental strength. Please note, the minimum uniform requirements to undertake a grading are: Bukido Kai T Shirt, Black Gi Pants. Adult Black belt grading
are held at 'Bushido CRT'. Black belt status is achieved at Shodan level, provisional black belts are in reality black belt candidates who have completed the Kyu grades and are moving through the entry requirements to be considered as a Black Belt. To grade to Shodan and above the candidate must be invited to do so by the Chief Instructor of Bukido Kai. The usual age for a candidate to attempt their Shodan grading is 18 years unless special consideration is given. Belt system for Bukido: Adults.

Junior Black belt grading for students under 16 years are held at the end of year grading in December and last a full day. Sempai Do gradings are held once a year usually over a weekend in June, the grading lasts two days. Black belt status is achieved at Shodan level, provisional black belts are in reality black belt candidates who have completed the Kyu grades and are moving through the entry requirements to be considered as a Black Belt. The Grading System: Kids.The Kid's karate grading system with Bukido Kai takes approximately eight years for children to progress from white belt to black belt. There are 17 Kyu grades including white belt. The reason for this is simple. Children can commence training with Bukido Kai from 5 years of age. We believe that prior to grading to black belt children should have the maturity to understand and deal with the responsibilities of being a black belt. It is one thing to get a black belt (anyone can go and buy one for that matter) it is another to BE a black belt.
